What Selah collects

Selah is a biblical learning app. You can use all of it without an account: your progress (lessons, points, streaks, badges, tribe), your notes, your settings and your Sabbath location then stay on your own device. Selah never sells your information and does not share it with anyone for advertising.

To learn which features are used, the app sends anonymous usage counts with a random install number, never your name or email. You can turn this off in Profile → About & help → Share anonymous usage.

Optional accounts

If you create an account (email and password, or Sign in with Apple or Google), Selah stores your email address, username, display name and tribe, and syncs your progress, notes (including photos you add to them), settings and Sabbath location to your account so they follow you to your other devices. Leaderboards and class groups show your username and scores to their members. This is kept with our database provider (Supabase), sent encrypted, and used only to run the app. It is never sold.

Location

The Sabbath tab uses your location, or a town you type, to work out Sabbath times. It stays on your device and is synced to your account only when you are signed in. To show the name of your town, the app sends rounded coordinates to its own server, which looks the name up on OpenStreetMap; that lookup is not stored.

Game Night

When you join a live Game Night, the nickname you type and your answers are kept with that game on the app’s game server (run on Cloudflare) so the host’s screen can show the scores. They are deleted 7 days after the game ends. Question sets you save under My sets stay with your account until you delete them.

Purchases

Selah Plus is an optional subscription bought through Apple (on iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (on Android). Apple or Google handles the payment, so Selah never sees your card details. When you use AI class notes, the AI helpers (formatting your notes, study guides, Doctrine Slayer grading, “Why?” explanations in the study games, dictation cleanup) or the AI Scoffer, the app sends the store’s purchase record (Apple’s signed transaction or Google Play’s purchase token) to Selah’s server only to confirm that Selah Plus is active. For Selah Plus on your own account it is not stored.

Family Plus is one optional subscription, bought by a parent, that covers everyone in their family (up to 12 people). After the parent buys it, their device saves the store’s purchase record on the family, where only the members of that family can read it, so that Selah’s server can confirm for each member that Family Plus is active. Card details never reach Selah.

Voice and AI

Spoken answers and dictated notes are turned into text by your device’s own speech service; Selah does not save or receive the recording. On the web, voice typing in notes is offered only where the browser can recognize speech on the device itself. When you use AI class notes, the AI helpers (formatting your notes, study guides, Doctrine Slayer grading, “Why?” explanations in the study games, dictation cleanup) or the AI Scoffer, only the text you send (never audio) goes through Selah’s server to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce the answer; Selah does not keep it. The free tries and monthly limits of these features are counted with the same random install number as the usage counts.

Delete your account

You can delete your Selah account and its data yourself at any time:

  1. In the app (or on the website, signed in), open Profile → Account & sync.
  2. Tap “Delete account” and confirm.

This deletes your account (email, username, sign-in), and everything synced to it: progress, notes and the photos in them, settings, your Sabbath location, class groups and leaderboard entries, and your My sets. Nothing tied to you is kept. Anonymous usage counts were never linked to you, and Game Night names and answers are deleted on their own 7 days after each game. If you can’t open the app, email ezrabenisrael7@gmail.com from your account’s email address and we will delete it within 30 days.

Families and children

Selah is appropriate for all ages. It is not listed as an app made for kids, and a child needs no account to use it. A parent can start a family (up to 12 people), invite other adults with a code or a link, and make a login for each child.

A child’s login is made by a parent and holds only a first name, a 4-digit PIN (kept only as a one-way scrambled hash, never readable) and what the child does in the app: progress, notes (with any photos they add to them) and settings, synced like any other account, including a Sabbath location if the child sets one. No email address is collected for it (it uses a made-up address that cannot receive mail). The parent who makes the login gives the consent for it, can set a new PIN or delete the login at any time, and deleting it removes what is stored for that child, normally including the photos in their notes included.

What parents see: each child’s streak, points, lessons, chapters and prayer days for the week, when they were last active, and the assignments the parent gave them. Parents never see a child’s notes or messages. The people in a family see each other’s first names and streaks, and an adult who joins a family can be made a parent by the family’s head.

What a child’s login does not get: no weekly leaderboard, no friend search or requests, no class groups, no messages from outside the family (only short preset notes to family members), no AI helpers, and no hosting of a Game Night. A child can still join a Game Night with a code and a nickname.

If a family’s head deletes the family, or deletes their own account while no other parent can take over, the family and its children’s logins are deleted. Apart from this, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
